If you own an affiliate marketing website, there are two main ways to increase your income. First, you can focus on driving more traffic to your website. Second, you can focus on improving the conversion rate.

In other words, let’s say you have a website bringing in 1,000 visitors per day with a 1% conversion rate. You can attempt to double your traffic numbers to double your income, or, you can attempt to double your conversion rate to 2%. While most affiliate marketers seem to focus on driving more traffic to their site, often times, increasing your conversion rate is a much faster and better way to go. This article will explore the top 10 ways you can improve your affiliate marketing conversion rate.

#10: Write About What You Already Know And Love

Follow your passion. It’s easy to try to go after a topic that’s highly profitable. For example, how to lose weight would be a highly profitable topic. But most people are not passionate about teaching others how to lose weight. So, whatever your hobbies, passions, or interests are, there is something you already know and love that can make you money.

By the way, there is much more detail about this in this amazing training program. If you sign up for that training course, they will take you through a process to discover the best niche topic for you that will also be profitable.

#9: Enable Commenting And Respond To All Comments

Increase Your Conversion RateWhen you’re a new blogger or you have a new website, it can be a little disheartening at first because it’s very, very tough to get people to comment on your website or blog. The best way to get comments going on your blog or website is to find people you know. Find friends or family to start commenting on your blog posts. Or, you can go to Fiverr.com and find people for 5 bucks to comment on a dozen posts on your website.

Do whatever you can to try and “seed” those commenting areas. Nobody likes to be first. Once the comment area has been seeded by posting 3 or 4 comments, others will be more likely to then comment themselves. Nobody likes to be the first one to comment. The more comments you have on a post, the more likely additional people will join in the discussion.

Getting people to join in on the discussion is important because it helps you to form a relationship with your website visitors.

You’ll also want to respond to both the positive and the negative comments. It’s only a matter of time until you get a negative comment, even if you’re offering a quality product or services. But every now and then, you’ll get people that disagree with you or don’t like a product or service you’re promoting. Go ahead and respond to them as well. Just make sure you respond in an understanding way, where you understand your concerns, and address them in a way you’d like to be addressed if you had a concern about something. And that’s all you can really do.

The point is, reply to ALL of your comments, be active, show people you’re involved, and show people that you’re responding to concerns as well.

#8: Post At Least 2 New Articles Per Week

You should make sure you post at least 2 new articles per week. I like to post at least 3 articles per week and preferably more than that if I have the time. Now, if you don’t have the time to write the articles yourself, this is always something you can outsource. If your website or blog is already bringing in a profit, there are services you can use to outsource all of your content creation. You can just tell freelance writers what you need to have written, and they will go ahead and write that for you. A few services I like for this includes:

Either way, I very highly recommend you keep fresh content updated on your site. A stale website will not only lower your conversion rates, but it will also hurt your website traffic in general.

#7: Give A Few Choices To Potential Buyers

Give People ChoicesNothing turns people off more than only having one choice. If you’re pushing just one single product or services and you’re saying, “this is the only service you should sign up for”, that is a big turn-off to most people. So, try to give people a couple different choices.

For example, on my website you’ll notice that I will frequently talk about website hosting services, and in particular, HostGator.com. I personally use HostGator and think they are the best hosting service, but then I can also give people other options like GoDaddy.com or BlueHost.com. There are plenty of great hosting services out there. I give my recommendation, but then I can also go through the differences between these services.

So, if you can get set up with maybe 2 or 3 different related affiliate products to promote, or just have your affiliate product as your top recommendation, but still give people other options as well. This generally increases the conversion rate, because people like to know they have some choices and say in the matter.

#6: Give A Sense of Urgency

Creating a sense of urgency is very important. You want to give people a reason to sign up right now – today. The longer they take to make a purchase, the harder it will be to convert those people into buying customers. So give people a reason for people to sign up right now.

You can create the urgency by saying things like:

  • Sign Up Now!
  • Limited Time Offer!
  • While Supplies Last!
  • Last Chance! Get It While You Can!
  • 50% Off Today Only!
  • Buy One Get One Free – Expires Soon!
  • Start Seeing Results Instantly!
  • Don’t Put This Off Any Longer!

Any of these or similar phrases will work. Just try to create a sense of urgency so that people take action right now. They are looking for an excuse to pull the trigger, so give them that opportunity. This will greatly increase your conversion rate.

#5: Proudly Boast Testimonials

Display TestimonialsTestimonials are HUGE! They have been proven time and time again to dramatically increase conversion rates. Anytime someone sends you a positive email or a good comment, ask them if you can share it publicly. If they say yes, also ask them for a picture of themselves. A lot of people won’t like you to post their picture online, but adding an image to a testimonial also makes it a bit more personal and can increase conversion rates. People love pictures of other people next to the testimonials. It makes a big difference.

Also, check with the companies you’re promoting. They might have some testimonials for you to use. If it’s a larger product or service you are promoting, chances are there will be people out there who have already said good things about them. They would be happy to share that with you, because they know it will help you to drive sales as well.

#4: Start Using Video

Using video is going to keep getting bigger and bigger over time. YouTube is the #2 search engine in the entire world already (and it’s owned by Google). Google also ranks YouTube videos highly in search results. So, you’re not only going to get an increase amount of traffic, but since it’s so personal, people generally tend to trust you a whole lot more and be much more receptive vs. text based articles.

If you want to get involved with video, it doesn’t take a whole lot. You don’t need a state of the art camera or anything like that. You can just used a basic camera or even a web cam, and just talk into the camera as if you’re talking to a friend. Or, you can just create something like a Power Point presentation and you never actually have to be on camera at all.

There are also services out there that will help you make animated videos like GoAnimate or Sparkol. There are many ways that you can start making your own videos, right from home.

With video, you’ll not only get more traffic, but you’ll dramatically increase conversion rates.

#3: Use Passive Email Marketing Strategies

Passive Email MarketingWhat do I mean by “passive” email marketing? You don’t want to just get people on your email list and then immediately spam them with a bunch of different sales ads. The best way to get people on your email list is to offer them something that is irresistible. A free ebook, a free report, or free access to something only email subscribers get. Always give a really good incentive for people to give you their email address. Just like you, everyone else gets spam everyday in their email inbox and nobody is looking to get more of that. People are getting more and more protective of their email address.

However, if you are able to get people on your list, you can then start sending them helpful information. Not necessarily sales ads, but ways to get visitors that were on your website once, to come back a second time and a third time and a fourth time, etc. The more times people visit your website, the more likely they will make a purchase from one of your affiliate partners. Just the additional visibility will help you increase your conversion rate.

So, try to get visitors to your website to come back over and over and over again. The best way to do this is through email marketing.

#2: Get Active On Social Media

This is something that has been around for a little while now and I’m here to tell you that social media is here to stay. It’s not going anywhere. We may see some social media networks become more popular than others while others will fade away while new ones come up. But the fact of the matter is social media will be here for a very long time. If you’re not involved with social media right now, you should be.

Social media can actually be your number one traffic source. For most people, their number 1 traffic source is search engines. But social media can blow away search engine traffic. There are companies out there getting literally millions of visitors per month just by using social media.

If you’re not involved with social media yet, what I recommend is to get involved with Facebook and Twitter first. Learn how to master those two first before moving onto other social media platforms. Facebook and Twitter tend to have highly engaged visitors with a higher probability of converting. Once you master Facebook and Twitter, you can go from there.

You’ll not only get more visitors to your site by being active on social media, but social media tends to be a place that brings in a lot of engaged users to your website. They will view several pages on your site and I find that conversion rates are about the same if not higher on social media than it is through search engine traffic, which is obviously very highly targeted.

#1: Use The CTPM Process

The CTPM process is a completely proven method to increase traffic and skyrocket conversion rates. If you have never heard about the CTPM process, it simply stands for:

  • Content
  • Traffic
  • Pre-Sell
  • Monetize

I very highly recommend you read more about the CTPM process here and watch this awesome video. If you’re not using the CTPM process, you are probably losing thousands of dollars.
